Damage: NO NETWORK
1) Iphone 5s coming from another service center
2) So, not to be picky, but the diagnosis should always be correctly done. Here the problem was simple but, somehow, they managed to make a mess out of it. (Basically the damage was on the PM).
3) Considering that I don’t know what they did under the BB, I simply remove it, I rebuild the missing tracks, I reball the whole thing and I put back the IC.
4) Well, we do not have any network functions, apparently due to a missing Modem Firmware (View photo)
5) With my PDF diagrams I check the Baseband section, and I take note of the Volt output towards the baseband.
6) I measure the output voltages with my tester: No voltage and short circuit on C57_RF.
7) Now, considering that the only component in front of L2_RF is the PM8018, the short should be on the IC. By removing the IC, I remove the short circuit.
8) I reball the new IC and put it on the board.
9) By touching with the tweezers the inductance L3_RF I notice that it’s completely detached.
10) I remove it too, and I add the missing condenser as well.
I take the tester and I check again the whole thing, all the output tensions are all correct.
That’s why I said that the diagnosis should be always correctly executed. Originally, in this case there was only the need to change the PM and one inductance and the problem would have been solved.
But, due to an incorrect diagnosis, the operations went way differently.
